Give us a call or visit our website to learn about our handcrafted elegant truffles, delectable bark, personal and business favors, chocolates with a smile (dark chocolate paws or hearts with Pop Rocks), and other delicacies.
Our flavors range from traditional (such as dark chocolate raspberry and milk chocolate peanut butter) to more adventuresome (such as dark chocolate grapefruit-habanero, milk chocolate banana daiquiri, and dark chocolate Jameson's Irish Whiskey).
Our company has 3 basic principles:
1. All profits are donated to local charities (SupportWorks, Friendship Trays, and NC MedAssist).
2. Everyone is a volunteer - no salaries are paid - but still must have extensive experience and training.
3. All products are handcrafted insisting that, above all, food has to be delicious.

How long have you been in business?
We founded Barking Dog Chocolatiers in 2000.
What is your primary product or service?
We handcrafted fine truffles, bark, unusual and delicious chocolate favors, French mini-pastries, and other chocolate delicacies. Our goal is to make you smile and (in the appropriate location) drool.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Joal (the Grand Poobah) is a retired pediatrician and Debbie (Joal's better half and Lord High Everything Else) is a retired botany professor at UNC-C. They started studying pastry and then concentrated on chocolate with training with leading pastry chefs and chocolatiers in Paris, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Montreal, and other locations.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
All of our staff are volunteers with extensive training and experience -- no salaries are paid. All profits are donated to local charities (SupportWorks, Friendship Trays, and NC MedAssist).
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location at which we craft our chocolates, and after receiving a call from you, we welcome you to visit the kitchens, taste, and if you wish, purchase chocolates.
What type of payments do you accept?
We prefer cash and checks, but gladly accept major credit cards (Amex, VISA, MasterCard, and Discover).
Which areas do you service?
We directly serve the Charlotte region, but (weather permitting) are happy to ship a gift from you to someone anywhere is the USA.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Our Grand Poobah runs our daily operations. We will tastefully refrain from making any other references to Gilbert and Sullivan as well as from irritating you with any bad puns about bark and bite.
What are your hours of operation?
Our hours vary and customers are seen by appointment. Just give us a call Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to ask any questions. You may also wish to visit our web site at www.woofwoofwoof.org.
